I cried just as we left the ticket counter…
I was so proud of myself for actually holding it in for as long as I did.
But when the lady behind the counter wished me a magical day I finally lost it.
The day we got our Disney World Annual Passes is a day that will be forever emblazoned on my heart.
I know it’s just some parks and I know it probably sounds crazy to cry about but getting those passes represented something far more than just entrance to some theme parks.
When Jon and I decided to move next to Disney World we really didn’t have a clue how everything was going to fall into place. We just had the idea, LOVED the idea, and moved forward, step-by-step. Each step took a tremendous amount of faith and we learned so many valuable life lessons.
One of which is to never give up on your dreams.
Before we ever moved here I could picture us dropping Maddie and Lyndon off at school and then Jon, Lily, and I would head over to Hollywood Studios so she could watch the Live Playhouse Disney show, sing along with the Frozen crew, and Jon and I could each take a turn on Rockin’ Roller Coater and Tower of Terror.
I imagined spending a leisurely Friday evening with my family at the Magic Kingdom exploring new sites, visiting our favorite rides, and stuffing our faces with funnel cake. I imagined it all and I couldn’t wait for it to finally happen.
Which is what lead me to learning one of my favorite and most valuable lessons in all of this…
God wants us to have what we want.
He really does. If it’s a worthy desire, He wants us to enjoy it.
I realized that so often I pray for things that I want but deep down I don’t really feel like I deserve them or that God would want me to have them. So I would kind of give up on them unintentionally. But with this particular blessing of living in Windermere, FL and having annual passes to Disney World I felt God constantly telling me,
“Don’t give up on this. I WANT you to have this. I WANT you to enjoy this. I need you to learn that you deserve this and so much more.”
What a fun lesson to learn!
And what a completely generous and loving Heavenly Father we have. The cool thing is that He doesn’t love me anymore than He loves you. Mark 11:24 says,
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
So what are you going to ask for?
What are your dreams?
Go ahead, ask God for it. And don’t forget to believe that you deserve it.
Because I know and (more importantly) God knows that you do.
